LLM Engineer
Support the development, integration, and sustainment of AI-enabled workflows and knowledge management solutions for a federal client.
The Opportunity
Support the development, integration, and sustainment of AI-enabled workflows and knowledge management solutions supporting a federal client. Collaborate with technical and functional stakeholders to develop document ingestion pipelines, retrieval workflows, and LLM-enabled capabilities that improve information discovery and decision support.
Design and implement processes for metadata extraction, semantic chunking, relationship extraction, and structured knowledge generation across multiple data sources and document types. Develop, test, and refine prompt engineering, retrieval, and orchestration workflows to support rapid prototyping efforts. Integrate AI-enabled solutions with cloud-based services, databases, and enterprise applications. Support the evaluation and implementation of emerging AI technologies and contribute to the expansion of new use cases across the platform.
Requirements
Required Qualifications (You Have)
- 2+ years of experience developing software applications using Python.
- Experience developing AI-enabled applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or prompt engineering.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice If You Have)
- Experience developing data ingestion, transformation, or processing pipelines, and working with structured and unstructured data sources.
- Experience implementing semantic chunking strategies for large document collections.
- Experience extracting metadata, entities, relationships, or knowledge graphs from unstructured documents.
- Experience using vector databases (e.g., OpenSearch, Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, or FAISS), semantic search technologies, or embedding models.
- Experience with AI orchestration frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or Semantic Kernel.
- Experience with AWS services supporting AI, analytics, and data processing workloads.
- Experience with OCR, document processing, and multi-format document ingestion pipelines.
- Experience evaluating, benchmarking, and optimizing LLM performance, and working with graph databases or knowledge graphs.
- Experience supporting rapid prototyping efforts and transitioning prototypes into production-ready solutions.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or federal clients.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).
