The Senior Construction Equipment Mechanic provides maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program in Okinawa, Japan.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cradle-to-grave maintenance operations on U.S. Air Force WRM and RADR vehicle and equipment fleet assets.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and special inspections as required and determines the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment, ensuring assets meet "safe and serviceable" condition.
  • Performs diagnostic, triage, and repair maintenance actions based on AF priorities, conducting parts research utilizing available T.O.s, T.M.s, and commercial manuals.
  • Manages and accounts for Air Force assets, performing accurate and timely administrative fleet management actions and accounting for all assigned equipment and tools.
  • Maintains CFR, FIAR, OSHA, AFOSH, and other federal, country, state regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Properly handles the accountability and disposal of hazardous waste and maintains current certifications and training requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of qualified mechanical experience.
  • Extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and replacing components for heavy construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, pump, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines, including diagnostics and repairs, with experience using electrical, hydraulic, and pumping schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, and multi-meters; experience following industry or military troubleshooting procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a passport valid for at least one year beyond the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial and tactical heavy construction, and Civil Engineering equipment for U.S. Air Force WRM & RADR fleets.
  • Experience and understanding of the Air Force's fleet management and support systems, including compliance with asset Life-Cycle Management.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing aircraft support, refueling, MHE, tactical, transport vehicles.
  • AF Fleet Management & Analysis experience, including knowledge of AF Forms 1800, 4354, 4355, AFTO 91.
  • Familiarity with T.O. 36-1-191, AFI 24-302, and AFI 24-301.
  • Familiarity with the Air Force's Electronic Technical Manual System (ETIMS), AF Technical Orders, and various Commercial Manuals for maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in corrosion prevention or removal in commercial or military contexts.
  • AFSC 2T3X1 (2T351, 2T371, 2T371A, B, C) or equivalent.

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
  • Must be able to work in high noise areas.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.

Travel

  • Up to 25% Travel Required.
