Physical Therapist
Evaluate patients to determine current levels of function/dysfunction using standardized and clinically accepted measurement and evaluation tools, clinical observations, patient and staff interviews, and review of medical histories.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients to determine current levels of function/dysfunction using standardized and clinically accepted measurement and evaluation tools, clinical observations, patient and staff interviews, and review of medical histories.
- Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on evaluation findings and available patient data, setting specific time dependent goals based on patient's age, specific needs, anxieties, fears, and overall condition.
- Apply the use of therapeutic modalities and new integrative techniques and technologies for the purpose of evaluation and ongoing treatment.
- Instruct patient/family members on home program/provides education on diagnostic process/treatment.
- Perform comprehensive neuromusculoskeletal evaluations for patients referred or direct access Physical Therapy.
- Plan and administer pediatric physical therapy services to promote functional development, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part.
- These services are administered primarily in the child's natural environment including but not limited to: homes, schools, or childcare facilities.
Requirements
Qualifications
Basic Requirements for Physical Therapist:
- Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
- Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
- Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before.
Specialized Experience:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
- One year of specialized experience which includes performing comprehensive neuromusculoskeletal evaluations; administering medically prescribed or educationally related physical therapy services; preparing written treatment programs based on evaluation findings and available patient data; recording patient treatments, responses, and progress; conducting lectures and training programs on physical therapy-related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups; and educating the patient and/or family members regarding their specific rehabilitation needs, limitations, and expectations. (Note: For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone—no substitution of education for experience is permitted.)

Compensation and Tour Details
- Salary Range: $76,463 to $99,404 per year.
- Tour Length: The initial length of this overseas tour is 24 months.
- Benefits: Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc.
- PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
