Marketing Assistant
Develops and implements marketing programs for the Force Support Squadron, including advertising campaigns, media relations, and market research.
Serves as a marketing account executive and assists in developing and implementing marketing programs for the Force Support Squadron. Under the direction of the Marketing Director, assists in developing communication strategies and marketing campaigns to enhance participation and increase financial income to FSS activities by determining the most effective and efficient media mix to reach the target audiences. Determines best media mix necessary including print and digital ad design concepts for facilities advertisements, photo shoots, video promotions, radio commercials, social media and website. Works with assigned FSS facilities to obtain information about upcoming FSS events and programs. Maintains frequent contact with activity managers to understand and anticipate needs that best support the customer service and/or sales goals of the FSS facility. Coordinates photographic support with marketing department photographer and facilities. Makes recommendations to activity managers on the design of effective advertising and appropriate media mix. Attends major FSS events and provides constructive marketing feedback to activity managers. Using standard industry practices, computer software and/or instruments specifically developed for use with FSS, adapts or modifies research techniques for local purposes. Develops and administers surveys and focus groups to collect data, tabulates responses, and assists in analyzing results. Assists in conducting media relations with on and off-base agencies. Prepares and presents briefings to base functions such as Newcomer's Orientation and Commander's Calls. Prepares drafts of, but not limited to, program overviews for publication in magazines, brochures, advertisements and promotional campaigns. Prepares and presents information on weekly radio and video shows as applicable. Arranges for advertising support of FSS programs and services from Wing Public Affairs and Armed Forces Network, Okinawa. Driving to the facilities is a regular, weekly requirement for the position. The purpose is meetings and regular reviews of marketing materials. Assists graphic designers by providing design inspiration, sample layouts and selection of photos for marketing projects. Assists commercial sponsorship and advertising coordinator as required and permitted by governing directives. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifying Experience: Must have work experience that provides general knowledge in marketing/advertising principles and practices and latest advertising and marketing trends, sales and negotiating principles. Specialized knowledge of FSS operations and programs highly desired. Ability to select appropriate material, arrange, and composite conceptual ad layouts and maintain well-organized files is required. Knowledge of data collection methods (e.g., focus groups, surveys, etc.) and market research analysis experience required. Knowledge of MS Office, project management principles, and graphic design as well as being enthusiastic and passionate about the field of work is a plus. Must be able to read, write, and speak in English. Must be willing to work nights or weekends as needed by the position. Must possess or be able to obtain a USFJ or Japanese Driver's license. Must be able to obtain a favorable Tier 1 Background Investigation. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test.
