This role supports educational efforts in Special Education and general education classrooms by monitoring students and providing assistance with personal hygiene and daily needs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring students during various phases of the school day.
  • Providing assistance in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene.
  • Supporting educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments.
  • Working with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator.
  • Distributing and collecting testing materials as needed by students.
  • Preparing instructional materials related to classroom lessons.
  • Participating in Parent Teacher conferences.

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • General Experience: One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that demonstrates the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for this role (e.g., preparing letters, schedules, and instructional materials).
  • Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained from an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
  • Combination: A combination of education and experience that meets at least 100% of the requirements (calculated by dividing total months of experience by 12, and semester hours of education by 60, then adding the two percentages).

Candidates will be evaluated on competency in the following areas: Communications and Media, Special Education Support Standards, Teaching Others.
