Conducts air-sensitive organometallic synthesis and catalysis research using non-precious metals.

The position

At Organometallic Chemistry Group (https://www.oist.jp/research/buribushi/takebayashi), we are looking for a research technician who wants to study organometallic chemistry and its application to catalysis based on non-precious metals such as iron, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. We aim to develop unprecedented organometallic chemistry and address challenges associated with sustainability, energy, and health based on it.

Our research will involve:

  • Larger scale (<30g) air-sensitive ligand and catalyst synthesis for industrial collaboration.
  • Synthesis of air-sensitive organometallic compounds using a glovebox and Schlenk line.
  • Synthesis of air-sensitive ligands and organic compounds using organic synthesis.
  • Analysis of compounds and reactions using NMR, SCXRD, GC, GCMS, EPR, etc.
  • High pressure (up to 10 bar) reaction using pressure reactors.
  • Polymer chemistry.
  • Electrochemistry of organometallic complexes.
  • Photochemistry of organometallic complexes.
  • Theoretical chemical calculations.
