Child Development Operations Clerk (OA)
Utilizes office automation software to perform basic functions such as payroll, work processing, electronic mail, and electronic records management, including financial and cash accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizes office automation software to perform basic functions such as payroll, work processing, electronic mail, and electronic records management.
- Handles financial and cash accounting.
- Monitors activity rooms, hallways, and other areas through video surveillance cameras.
- Establishes updates and maintains office records.
- Provides customer service to the patron population, which consists of members of all four branches of the Armed Forces and their civilian counterparts, their children, and others.
Requirements
Specialized Experience or Education
Applicants must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Qualification can be met through one of the following:
1. Specialized Experience:
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples include knowledge of child development center programs and operations, various office automation software processing procedures, basic arithmetic principles, standard office equipment, and clerical rules/procedures (e.g., preparing correspondence, maintaining files).
2. Education:
- Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent).
3. Combination of Experience and Education:
- A combination of education and experience may be used, but only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of the following competencies:
- Knowledge of Child Development Center programs and procedures (e.g., providing program information, referring visitors, preparing reports).
- Ability to interpret and apply DoD, Air Force, PACAF, and local policies and directives for procedures such as registrations, fee collection, and file maintenance.
- Knowledge of cash handling techniques, procedures, and security regulations.
- Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce textual and database documents.
- Knowledge of basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and clerical procedures.
- Skill of a qualified typist with a minimum of 40 wpm proficiency.
- Skill in meeting and dealing with people of diverse social, national, cultural, and occupational backgrounds, with effective oral communication.
Note: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid or part-time work, including volunteer experience.
