Recreation Assistant
Plans, organizes, and assists in the execution of special events, holiday parties, and recreational programming for youth and community members, while managing facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and assists in the execution of special events, holiday parties, and recreational programming for youth and community members.
- Responsible for the opening and closing of the Youth Center and other recreational facilities.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for customer service-related incidents, addressing patron concerns, resolving conflicts, and escalating issues to the supervisor when necessary.
- Checks equipment and gear in and out; ensures all issued gear is returned, accounted for, and properly stored at the end of each shift.
- Operates and oversees laser tag and other special event equipment and activities.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of recreational areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Inspects indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, equipment, and tools to verify general condition and safety compliance.
- Reports facility or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Conducts inventory of authorized recreational supplies and equipment on a recurring basis.
- Performs minimal administrative duties such as maintaining records, logs, and basic documentation related to facility operations.
- Assists with additional duties as assigned to support overall recreational operations.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- Required Experience: Must have customer service experience.
- Required Skills:
- Ability to safeguard and handle cash is required.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals or groups.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of maturity and good judgment, and enjoy working with children and parents.
- Experience must have demonstrated requirement for rigorous attention to detail.
- Preferred Skills:
- Practical knowledge of basic program, plans, and operation procedures of recreational activities is highly desirable.
- Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable.

Location and Employment Details
- Location: Kadena Air Base
- Status: Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.
- SOFA Status: This position is eligible for SOFA sponsorship.
