This role involves designing and reviewing HVAC and fire protection systems, solving complex engineering problems, and ensuring designs meet project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review heating, cooling, ventilation, and fire protection systems.
  • Solve complex problems and recommend practical solutions for projects.
  • Review designs, plans, and specifications to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Develop cost estimates for construction projects, including materials and labor.
  • Inspect construction work, identify issues, and ensure installations meet contract requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Specialized Experience (GS-12): Must meet one year of specialized experience, defined as meeting three of the following:
    1. Evaluating HVAC or fire protection mechanical systems and/or equipment.
    2. Reviewing cost estimates for HVAC or fire protection system projects.
    3. Visiting construction sites of assigned projects.

Administrative Details

  • Probationary Period: This position requires a 1-year probationary period during which the agency evaluates fitness and whether continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Tour Length: The initial length of this overseas tour is 24 months.
  • Relocation: Defense National Relocation Program may be authorized.
  • Pay: Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
  • PCS: Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.
  • Benefits: Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
